Consett Stories Project Gets the Green Light

Thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund, Digital Voice has been able to launch a new project celebrating Consett’s industrial past. This wide-ranging project involves people and community organisations in a variety of digital activities in order to unearth and celebrate the town’s rich heritage.

Our brilliant team has begun work with one group to create digital stories which will then form part of a permanent archive. Another group is curating a community exhibition. Participants will also get to access local archives and meet museum archivists as they discover and uncover Consett stories.  Woven into all aspects of the project will be enabling members of the Consett community to learn digital skills including movie-making apps as well as providing opportunities for different generations to work together.

Commenting on the funding, our Managing Director, Julie said:

“We are delighted to have received the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund and are confident the project will bring local people together to explore their heritage. Thanks to all National Lottery players who have made this project possible.”

Keep an eye out for updates on this project as we uncover the stories and characters of Consett. Thanks to National Lottery players, the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) is able to make a lasting difference for heritage, people and communities across the UK and help build a resilient heritage economy. From museums, parks and historic places to archaeology, natural environment and cultural traditions, we invest in every part of our diverse heritage. HLF has supported almost 35,000 projects with more than £5.3bn across the UK.  www.hlf.org.uk.
