Suzi the Hen’s Interactive History Trail launches in Chopwell this Week
Residents of Chopwell Village in Gateshead can take a real trip down memory lane this Easter, inspired by a rather unusual resident. Meet Suzi the Hen, one of Chopwell’s most famous inhabitants who was known to catch the bus to High Spen and back again (got away without paying, too!)
The intrepid traveller has quite a few stories to tell about the village and along with her friends at the Chopwell History Club, has devised a free interactive trail around the village.
The Chopwell History club meets each week at the Pavilion in Chopwell Park and has been working with the Digital Voice team to collect stories, photos and films, pulling them all together in an interactive trail which can be unlocked using a series of QR codes.
Julie Nicholson, our Managing Director, comments:
“I’m so pleased that this project has been able to celebrate the rich history of Chopwell and I hope people will enjoy a different sort of wander around the village with their families this Easter. Everyone is welcome, not just Chopwell residents!”
Suzi’s trail will launch on 16 April and maps are available, free of charge, from Chopwell Community Centre or via the Digital Voice website:
Happy trails!
