Give the Gift of a New Skill

Our iSkills courses have been a great success over the last year, with people not only reporting that they feel much more confident using the devices and wanting to continue in their spare time, but also that they’ve seen an improvement in their mental health and wellbeing. New skills are a gift that keeps on giving, especially when you can turn it into an actual gift for your nearest and dearest! If you’ve been looking for something creative and fun for your group or service users, read on to find out what two of our recent clients have been up to.

We’ve been working with No.28 in Hexham, a community hub on the Hexham East estate, where members can come together to learn new skills, share experiences and get advice. Members have been working with Digital Voice and getting to grips with digital drawing and made their own cards with their brand new artwork:

“We have loved working with Digital Voice at No.28 Community House. Organising courses at a community centre can sometimes be tricky, but they've been really helpful and understanding at every stage. The facilitators made participants feel comfortable and confident in their abilities. The Digital Drawing course feels like it's kick-started us getting more creative courses going at No.28, and we hope to continue working with Digital Voice to do this.”

Meanwhile over in Gateshead, the Unity Group have been learning how to create digital content on Tiktok and Canva inspired by The Angel of the North. Their project culminated in a visit to Gateshead Central Library’s Maker Place, where they transferred the images they’ve created onto a variety of objects, all of which would make fantastic gifts:

Well done to everyone involved in these projects for all their hard work and thanks to Gateshead Libraries.
