Digital Voices Being Heard via a Brand New PhotoClub Virtual Exhibition

Digital Voice proved over the course of the pandemic that we aren’t afraid of innovation and by taking our services remotely we more than proved that online delivery wasn’t just possible, but a creative, accessible and fun way to work!

Over the past year we proved not only could we run our sessions online but that we could also share, and exhibit work this way too without detracting from the impact and creativity of the messages and designs. From DigitalMe online panel discussions with Zoom premieres to themed social media takeovers, Digital Voice have strived to celebrate and bring our participants work to audiences despite lockdown restrictions.

Now our Digital Voice PhotoClub is breaking even more new ground by creating our first interactive online exhibition, combining digital technology and artistic talent via Artsteps software that allows users to create immersive, virtual 3D worlds which can be viewed on computers, mobile devices or VR headsets.

PhotoClub is an inclusive group of children, young people and their families based at the City Library, Newcastle Upon Tyne. They created the work being displayed in the virtual exhibition using iPads and explored a wide variety of themes, locations, techniques and developing lots of creative skills. Digital Voice facilitator Robin Cowings guided the participants to experiment with a range of apps to help them realise and enhance their creative potential through the limitless power of digital technology. This process didn’t just enable them to develop new digital and creative skills but was a vital window of expression during the pandemic, allowing them to image and capture whole worlds while we were all stuck indoors. PhotoClub didn’t just rely on virtual worlds though, where possible the participants visited a range of beautiful places and will continue to utilise real world inspiration as restrictions ease.
