PhotoClub - Family PhotoClub exhibition in Britain’s favourite market
The recent Digital Voice PhotoClub project “A Day in the Life of the Grainger Market” has resulted in a fabulous exhibition. The families who attend PhotoClub interviewed stall-holders and visitors to the market and took portraits and other photos to capture the spirit of this wonderful place. They also searched the Newcastle Libraries’ archives and discovered a treasure trove of old photos, which they have included in the exhibition.
The displays have been expertly curated by Robin Cowings, the professional photographer who teaches the groups. We hope the exhibition will take place in the market August 2020.
Digital Voice for Communities has run an inclusive family PhotoClub for several years at Newcastle City Library on behalf of Newcastle City Council’s Arts Connect team. We support families of children with and without additional needs to come together and produce photographic projects – developing skills while making friends and spending quality time as a family. Members use iPads to take photos and lots of different apps to edit and manipulate the images.
