Employability: Digital Skills for Work

Tutor teaching how to use an iPad

The world is increasingly digital and so are our jobs. More than ever, we are expected to be able to use IT, email, share with colleagues online and post on social media.

Job searching and applications too are increasingly online. Yet many people still face a number of barriers to engaging in the digital world - here at Digital Voice, we are working hard to make sure everyone is included.

Digital Voice has been running employability courses in community venues for several years, creating bespoke courses according to the needs of specific partners.

For Oasis Community Housing (Gateshead) we created a 6-week course to get their clients ‘job ready’ which we tailored to individual needs.

“I Learned a lot in a short time.  Great tutors and I would like the course to be a few weeks longer to be sure. I shall recommend to everyone as everyone should know these skills.“

We can help you to do a skills audit of your clients or service users, to ensure each course is relevant to their needs. We recognise that whilst people might be digitally literate (have a smartphone and use the internet), they may not know how to write a CV, send email attachments, do an effective job search or write a strong application. They may also need to learn word processing, spreadsheets and other software.

Digital Voice’s courses are designed to work for groups as well as 1-2-1 sessions when needed.

“I’ve learned loads, with your help, the course, getting a laptop, I have learned a lot. I have a totally different outlook on life now – it’s so much better now”
