iSkills - Our Valley, Our Place
Our Valley Our Place is another lovely example of a project that has inspired people with learning disabilities to get out in nature, to produce films and take photos of their local landscape.
This project was produced by a group from Winlaton Community Base supported by Digital Voice for Communities. Over the course of a summer they explored the Derwent Valley and enjoyed getting out and appreciating its beauty and diversity.
They took photos, filmed interviews and edited some of the films using iPads and a 360° camera.
Their aim was to show people valley through their eyes and produce images the public would enjoy as much as they enjoyed creating them.

Digital Voice worked in partnership with Gateshead Council’s adult social care department who support people with learning disabilities in community bases across the borough. The Digital Voice team are very grateful to them and local charities for a long-standing partnership which has allowed us to help hundreds of people who often don’t have the same access to creative learning opportunities as those without disabilities. Our team have a great deal of expertise which ensures an excellent quality of service, tailored to the needs of those we support.
