Photo display extended

An exhibition of digital photography by an inclusive young people’s group has been highly praised.

Who Took Part

Young people aged 11-18 from Newcastle were offered the chance to take part in a digital photography club.

What Happened

The group have been learning how to take better photographs and complete projects such as finding the alphabet in everyday objects, creating scannergrams and using exciting apps on iPads to create imaginative pictures.

This is an inclusive group for young people to learn about photography and make new friends. The club is provided by Newcastle City Council, as it was the media most requested by young people and there was no provision.

The young people took thousands of photos and created wonderful digital pieces, some of which have been displayed in an exhibition in Newcastle City Library.

Benefits for Participants

The group thoroughly enjoyed the club, especially using the iPads, and we are planning more exciting iPad-based photography projects for the future.

Who Else Would Benefit from this sort of Project?

This club is open to all young people aged 11-18 living in Newcastle and is inclusive, so a number of places are reserved for autistic and learning disabled participants.
