inTouch skillsforlife and employability

Digital Voice develops new course to help unemployed people.

Who is Taking Part

Refugee groups in Gateshead and unemployed people in North Durham took part in the development of these courses with Digital Voice.

Skillsforlife learners gain the knowledge to apply for benefits such as Universal Credit and to handle other issues they are required to deal with online, such as reporting repairs, banking and problem solving as well as basic online jobsearching. Employability learners will build on these skills, using a variety of apps to create CVs easily, do effective online jobsearching, write cover letters and learn interview skills. They are then able to register their skills with agencies and employers and find out how to gain new skills, all with the support of Digital Voice’s expert facilitators.

What Happened

Feedback from the courses has been excellent and we are continuing to develop new ways of working with people digitally to empower them to improve their lives.

Learners report an increased self confidence, and a confidence with technology.

Learners feel more empowered to do things independently.

Learners are more employable, as they have learned transferable digital skills.

We are grateful for the support of Gateshead Housing Company and County Durham Community Foundation.

Who Else Would Benefit From This Sort of Project
