Four youth groups from Walker have taken part in an unusual project; they were asked to look at archive photos of their area, then find the spots where they were taken and take photos of the locations now.
They merged the two using iPad apps. The results were very interesting ‒ some had changed beyond recognition whilst others had remained the same. One of the groups focused on creating montages of their lives and those of some older members of the community, which were really well-received.
Liz Jackson, one of the Project Officers who supported the project said ' I really enjoyed the “Wor Walker” photography project, I thought the young people responded and engaged really positively with the project. Using the iPads to merge the photos was a great way to show Walker as it was then and as it is now!'
The groups worked very hard to create fantastic art works in a short time. Their pictures were display at an exhibition in Christ Church, Walker, where local councillors presented the young people with copies of their work.
