A ground-breaking project by young people from Gateshead to help a village in Ghana was launched at The Sage Gateshead – and a village representative travelled 3500 miles to take part.
Mr Justus Kwame Avudzivi spoke at the event where more than a hundred people heard the plans of the young people and saw a video about their work in Africa.
Young people from Deckham have made two trips to Africa to support the village. They shot their own video pictures which were used in When Gateshead met Ghana. The video is to be used in their presentations to other youth groups to encourage more link-ups with Africa, and also for fundraising for a community centre in the village.
