LifeBooks pilot success

19th January 2018

Digital Voice has recently partnered with the Alzheimer's Society and NHS in Northumberland to devise a course specifically for people with dementia. It is a way to prompt memories and also keep the memories alive by stimulating emotional memories with music and images in a digital LifeBook.

We ran a pilot in Northumberland with a group of people with dementia and their carers/support staff. The results have been fantastic, and we look forward to working with other groups to share these benefits across the North East of England.

DV Project Coordinator Julie Nicholson said ‘It's called LifeBooks because we help people to create a digital scrap book of their photos, memories, anecdotes and favourite music, bringing them altogether. This is a lasting legacy of someone's life.’

Participants had lots of great things to say about the project:

  • “I didn’t realise I had so much stored in my memory!”
  • “I really enjoyed it. It brings so much back!”
  • “Thank you so much. It’s very emotional!”
  • The project will continue in Derwentside in 2018 and we look forward to offering the opportunity to create a LifeBook to more learners with dementia.
