Durham carers get connected

21st August 2014

Carers have told Digital Voice that they can feel isolated. They want to get online so they can connect more with family and friends.

Thanks to a grant from Durham Community Chest, we are now running four courses across the county, geared to the needs of each group. The carers are learning how to make video calls, use social media, share photos and even do the weekly shop.

One participant said ‘It’s great! I’ve been on lots of courses but this is the only one that went at my speed! Normally they just work with the able ones and leave us behind.’

The results of the courses will be evaluated, with a view to beinging these benefits to other carers across the North East of England.
